The recognition of EN 18286:2026 as a harmonised standard supporting the EU AI Act provides a clearer route for providers of high-risk AI systems to demonstrate conformity with the Article 17 quality-management requirements it covers.

This development supports responsible enterprise AI transformation through documented processes and auditable evidence. It does not establish blanket compliance or guarantee that an individual AI system is safe.

For clients, the starting point is to establish where AI is used, which markets are involved, and whether the organisation develops, supplies or deploys the system. Relevant assessments should examine human accountability, data governance, supplier evidence, testing and incident management.

Deverout & Associates will incorporate these questions into client discovery and transformation discussions, with recommendations proportionate to each organisation’s needs and regulatory exposure.
